"Golden Harps are Singing" πΆππ₯π️πͺπΌ
A few days ago, I had to take a detour while driving, and ended up on an unfamiliar street. Little did I know that once I turned the corner my eye would catch a glimpse of something new that I didn't even know was there.
I saw a monument on the side of the road, of a metal harp. Seeing that harp there instantly reminded me of some things that God has been teaching me lately about the power of praise and worship. And it led me to dig a little deeper to discover more treasures too.
The Gift of Music:
"The hills are alive, with the sound of music. With songs they have sung for a thousand years. The Lord fills my heart with the sound of music. My heart wants to sing every song it hears." πΆππ₯π️πͺ
Lately I have been led to listen to more instrumental harp music. I can actually hear the frequency of Heaven, whenever I listen to these delightful melodies. There seems to be a beautiful heavenly sound that comes from these stringed instruments. And one thing that I have noticed, is how harps are also shaped like human ears.ππͺ It is interesting how these instruments are shaped and crafted this way, to produce such heavenly sounds. And the strings vibrate when the musician moves their hands and fingers over the strings, just like how the three little bones in our ear drums also vibrate allowing us to hear sounds.
Harps and lyres are also frequently mentioned in the Bible too. For instance, David played a harp, while he was composing the Psalms. And in 1 Samuel 16:23, whenever David would take up his harp and play a peaceful melody on it, Saul would then become refreshed and well, and the distressing spirit would depart from him.
Music is a powerful gift from God that can can bring joy, renew hope, and comfort weary souls. It is also a way that His healing love can flow into a human heart. Music often produces strong emotional responses. Sometimes we cry when a song or melody strikes the right cords in our hearts. Other times we feel like dancing, and clapping, and singing loudly with joy. Then there are other times where we listen to soaking worship music, and it draws us deeper into God's Presence. And He fills us up with an inner peace that surpasses all understanding.
God also uses music and lyrics to communicate His heart to us. He tells us stories through song. Sometimes we can receive prophecies through music, about things that will soon take place in this world. And then there are other times where God communicates His words of wisdom, direction, comfort, and encouragement through songs. Jesus sings to us, and He tells us things that we really need to hear at that particular moment in time. He rejoices over us with singing!
Praise as a Powerful Weapon in Spiritual Warfare: πΆπ️π₯πͺ⚔️
Praise and worship deepens our relationship to God. And it is also a powerful weapon in spiritual warfare too. It takes our minds off of our problems. And it refocuses our minds on God. When we sing songs of praise to God, we are praying to Him, and worshipping Him in Spirit and in truth. And it sends the enemy packing. Our praise changes and shifts the entire atmosphere, and God's holy angels then start to minister to us. They also join in on the chorus, and sing praises to God alongside us.
Acts 16:25-34
About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose. The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. But Paul shouted, “Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!”
The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized. The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole household.
Music in Heaven and on the New Earth: πΏππͺπΆ
God created music, and there will be lots of music in Heaven. We will be singing with the angels, worshipping and praising God together.

Lyrics: "Yahweh I Know You are Near," by Dan Schutte πΆπ️π₯ππͺ
Praise the Lord. Praise God in His sanctuary;
praise Him in His mighty heavens.
Praise Him for His acts of power;
praise Him for His surpassing greatness.
Praise Him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise Him with the harp and lyre,
praise Him with timbrel and dancing,
praise Him with the strings and pipe,
praise Him with the clash of cymbals,
praise Him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord!
