The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares

Another parable He put forth to them, saying, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”

Today I was thinking about this parable about the wheat and the tares. It seems to reflect the division that we see happening right now in the world. Even within our own families. People's true colours are now starting to show, and their masks are now starting to fall off. I think it might be another sign that the time of the great Harvest of Souls draws near.

Right now we are workers in God's field. And the fields are ripe for the harvesting. We witness to other people, and try to point them to Jesus. Some people will have receptive hearts, and will listen to what we have to say. And then there are others who won't want to hear us out. They have closed minds, and stubborn hearts. But while it seems like these ones just can't be reached, with God all things are possible. And He has His ways to make people wake up, and repent. Even if it involves a great shaking in their lives.

There seems to be a separation taking place right now, where God is separating the sheep from the goats, the wheat from the tares, and the genuine from the pretenders. We see this happening all around us. Yet we are not to condemn other people. We are to love them. And try to rescue them from the fires.

When they come against us, we must remind ourselves that it is the enemy who is causing them to behave like that. We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the wicked principalities that are in this fallen world.

We witness to people, sow seeds of righteousness, and speak the words that the Holy Spirit gives us to speak. And they we move on, and leave the rest up to God. Our ministry is not to try and convert members of our family. But we can sow the seeds of righteousness that we have been given. Then leave the rest up to God. He the most patient Farmer, and Gardener. 🌷💧🌿💕

The Difference Between Wheat and Tares:

I was thinking about this today. How they look very similar at the very beginning. 🌱 But then they reveal their true nature, the closer it gets to the harvest time.

Tares or Darnell are a wild weed that grow in farmers fields. And they produce a toxic berry that is poisonous to humans and cattle. They stay upright proudly, but they produce no good fruit.

Wheat, in contrast, takes time to grow. But once it reaches maturity, it's head bows down loaded with grains or fruits that are used to feed the multitudes.

At the end of the age, God is going to send forth His angels, who are the reapers, to gather His wheat into His barn. And the wicked tares, will be bundled to be burned with unquenchable fire.

God is a Just Judge, as well as a Merciful Saviour. And He is the One who will conduct this final separation. He knows the thoughts and intentions of every heart. He knows people's motives. And He is the One who will decide what is genuine, and what is not. He will separate the wicked from the righteous.

But when John the Baptist saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, “Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, and do not think to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

“For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, and all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up,” Says the Lord of hosts, “That will leave them neither root nor branch. But to you who fear My name, The Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings; And you shall go out and grow fat like stall-fed calves. You shall trample the wicked, for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day that I do this,” says the Lord of hosts.

“Remember the Law of Moses, My servant, which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”
