"God's Night Pollinators are Burning the Midnight Oil." πŸŒΉπŸ’–πŸ”₯πŸ•Š️πŸ•―️πŸͺ”

Luke 12:35-40 πŸ’–

"Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning; and you yourselves be like men who wait for their Master, when he will return from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately. Blessed are those servants whom the Master, when he comes, will find watching. Assuredly, I say to you that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them. And if he should come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. But know this, that if the Master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

God's Night Pollinators are at Work:

A few months ago, I saw a beautiful purple humming bird by the lilac trees in the back yard.  It was when the flowers were still in full bloom on the trees, and giving off sweet and fresh fragrance.  It was the perfume and nectar that probably attracted the humming bird to the feeder.

The bird was very small and delicate.  And its little body was royal purple in colour, with lovely blue and green highlights on its wings.  The hum of its wings when they flapped, reminded me of the hum of bumble bees in the garden.  And there have actually been lots of these precious pollinators around here lately.  Along with butterflies, and many beautiful birds that you normally wouldn't see up here in Northwestern Ontario.

This year was actually the very first time that I have ever caught a glimpse of a humming bird at work.  It was small, but mighty.  And it was very very fast in its flight.  It flew so fast that I couldn't take a picture of it with my camera.  But the image of this bird is still stored in my memory.  And it is one experience that I will never forget.

It's like the pollinators have now all woken up, and are starting to build and get to work.  Even in the night hours, when the rest of the world is fast asleep.

We are also pollinators in God's garden.  We are His workers in the fields. His heralds and messengers, carrying and delivering His messages to the world.  All in preparation for the soon return of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

The Parable of the Fireflies:

I was thinking about fireflies this morning.  How their cute little bellies glow in the dark, and light up the night canvas with their sparkling light.  They are also carriers of light.  Just like how we are carriers of God's glory.

The light we shine out to others comes from within our innermost being.  It comes from our hearts, where Jesus dwells. πŸ’–πŸ”₯πŸ•Š️

Fireflies are also night pollinators, carrying their light to illuminate a dark world.

The Lady with the Lamp:

I was also thinking about Florence Nightingale this morning.  She was a nurse who tended to wounded soldiers, during the American Civil War.  People gave her the nickname, "The Lady with the Lamp."  Probably because she was like a beacon of light to those around her, who were hurting and in need of comfort.

She is remembered for her courage, compassion, and endurance.

Matthew 5:13-16 πŸ’–

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot."

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
