"Sticks, Stones, and Rocks" 🪨 The Lord will Defeat the Giants in Our Lives 🕊️🔥⚔️💕
Then as I continued on my journey, I noticed a bullseye target on a neighbour's front yard. Kind of like the ones used in archery practice. Then I was led to observe the shape of a twig that I saw on the sidewalk. It had a "Y" shape reminded me of a slingshot. Like the one David used when he defeated Goliath.
As I was pondering these things, the Lord led me to a few connected scriptures that I will share here. The first one being the story of David and Goliath found in 1 Samuel:32-51. David was just a young shepherd boy at that time, who managed to defeat a giant Philistine warrior, with just a sling, a stone, and an unshakable faith in God.
1 Samuel 17:32-51
David said to Saul, “Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him.”
Saul replied, “You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a young man, and he has been a warrior from his youth.”
But David said to Saul, “Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it. Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God."
"The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.”
Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you.”
Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them.
“I cannot go in these,” he said to Saul, “because I am not used to them.” So he took them off. Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.
Meanwhile, the Philistine, with his shield bearer in front of him, kept coming closer to David. He looked David over and saw that he was little more than a boy, glowing with health and handsome, and he despised him. He said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. “Come here,” he said, “and I’ll give your flesh to the birds and the wild animals!”
David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”
As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell face down on the ground.
So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.
David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine’s sword and drew it from the sheath. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword.
When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran.
In the eyes of this world, David was overlooked. They perceived him as small and insignificant. Just a little guy who was a shepherd boy, and didn't have any military training.
They viewed him as too young, and small in stature. Like he didn't stand a chance in defeating this giant, Goliath. Yet God saw something else in David, that Saul and the rest of the crowd had missed. God saw what was inside of David's heart. He saw that he had a strong Spirit and an unshakable faith. That he fully believed and trusted in God, who would help him to fight these battles, and defeat this giant that was standing right in front of him.
The only thing that David had to do was pick up the smooth stones from the river, and use his skilled hands to move the elastic of the slingshot. But it was the Hand of God that directed the stone to its target. God made it possible for him to aim the stone in the correct spot. Knocking that giant square on the forehead, and down to the ground. Never to be seen or heard from again.
Psalm 144:1-10
Praise be to the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.
He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.
Lord, what are human beings that you care for them, mere mortals that you think of them? They are like a breath; their days are like a fleeting shadow.
Part your heavens, Lord, and come down; touch the mountains, so that they smoke. Send forth lightning and scatter the enemy; shoot your arrows and rout them. Reach down your hand from on high; deliver me and rescue me from the mighty waters, from the hands of foreigners whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful.
I will sing a new song to you, my God; on the ten-stringed lyre I will make music to you, to the One who gives victory to kings, who delivers his servant. 🎶💖🔥🕊️
The Statue of Kingdoms:
As I was pondering these things about the giant being knocked down, by just a sling and a stone, the Lord reminded of another scripture. The one from Daniel 2, where Daniel interprets the dream that Nebuchadnezzar had about the statue of kingdoms.
Daniel 2:40-45
"Finally, there will be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron—for iron breaks and smashes everything—and as iron breaks things to pieces, so it will crush and break all the others. Just as you saw that the feet and toes were partly of baked clay and partly of iron, so this will be a divided kingdom; yet it will have some of the strength of iron in it, even as you saw iron mixed with clay. As the toes were partly iron and partly clay, so this kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle. And just as you saw the iron mixed with baked clay, so the people will be a mixture and will not remain united, any more than iron mixes with clay."
“In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever. This is the meaning of the vision of the rock cut out of a mountain, but not by human hands—a rock that broke the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold to pieces."
“The great God has shown the king what will take place in the future. The dream is true and its interpretation is trustworthy.”
Jesus is the Rock of Ages. He is the stone which the builders have rejected, and He has become the Chief Corner Stone. He is the Key Stone, and the Foundation on whom we must build upon. 🔑💎✨✝️✨
His Kingdom is the one that will supplant and crush all of these earthly kingdoms combined. Mystery Babylon the Great will fall. All of the kingdoms of this world will fall. ⚖️🔥 But the Kingdom of our God will stand forever! And His Eternal Kingdom is the one we are all longing for right now.
