"Guard Your Heart" ❤️🛡️🩸⚔️🔥🕊️💕
I was reminded of a song by Kenny Rogers, with the lyrics:
"You've got to know when to hold them. Know when to fold them. Know when to walk away. And know when to run." 🎶🕊️✨💕
Those lyrics can certainly be applied to any given situation. Especially where there is strife, anger, confusion, offence, and conflict between people.
💖 "We've got to know when to hold them." We've got to know when to hold our cards close to our chest, and not reveal exactly how we feel. Sometimes our emotions can get the best of us at times, and cause us to make rash decisions that we will later on regret. It is always good to take a "time out" whenever we feel angry, upset, or emotionally wounded. During that time, we should ask God to help us to manage those emotions, and heal the wounds in our hearts.
Our emotions are a gift from God, when used wisely. And some of us are natural "feelers," who can sense if something is not right spiritually. But we must not be ruled by our emotions. Every thought, feeling, and action must be taken captive to God in prayer. We must then use the wisdom that He has given us to be more proactive, instead of reactive.
💖 "Know when to fold them." We've got to know when to lay the cards down in front of people, in order to help them see and hear the truth. Whether or not they choose to hear it or not. During times like this, we must speak whatever God places on our hearts to say with courage, authority, and holy conviction. We speak out of love, not out of selfish human pride. And we follow God's leading and direction. As we yield to Jesus, He uses us as His humble vessels of honour, and puts His words into our mouths and hides us under the shadow of His Mighty Hand.
Sometimes we can feel a strong anointing from God during times like this, when He prompts us to speak, write, or sing His messages. It isn't forced, but it comes automatically with no human effort at all. The Holy Spirit helps us to be brave in the face of great opposition, and He anoints and activates us to proclaim His messages. A holy fear is also usually evident, whenever we feel led to speak up against something that just doesn't feel or sound right.
Even if we don't know what to say, God will give us the right words to speak at that given time. If we yield to His Holy Spirit who dwells inside of our hearts and minds.
💖 "Know when to walk away, and know when to run." And we also have to know when to stay silent and walk away. Or know when to run away, if something really feels off and our discernment is working in overdrive.
If an argument continues to escalate, and becomes too much for us to handle or bear emotionally. That is when we must stay quiet, pray and intercede, and allow God to fight these battles for us. We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the wicked powers and principalities of darkness.
Our words really do have power. And life and death are in the power of the tongue. With our tongues we can bless, encourage, and edify others. Or we can tear down, confuse, curse, and attack peoples' characters through malicious gossip and hurtful accusations.
The choice is ours to make. But one thing is for certain, we will all have to eat the fruits of those choices, whether good or bad.
Sometimes the best answer to constant criticism and opposition is the sound of silence. "Silence is Golden," in some cases. Though I will admit that it isn't easy to just "let go and let God" fight these battles for us sometimes.
We all want our viewpoints and voices to be heard. And we as human beings have an innate desire to want to prove ourselves to be right, and the other person wrong. However it isn't easy to admit that sometimes we are at fault, and wrong in our thinking and attitudes.
I keep on being reminded of this scripture from Matthew 10, when Jesus sends out His disciples and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.
Matthew 10:9-20
“Do not get any gold or silver or copper to take with you in your belts, no bag for the journey or extra shirt or sandals or a staff, for the worker is worth his keep. Whatever town or village you enter, search there for some worthy person and stay at their house until you leave. As you enter the home, give it your greeting. If the home is deserving, let your peace rest on it; if it is not, let your peace return to you. If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet. Truly I tell you, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town."
“I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. Be on your guard; you will be handed over to the local councils and be flogged in the synagogues. On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you." 💖🔥🕊️
The entire chapter is definitely worth reading again, as it covers a lot of ground on this topic too. But this was the part that really stood out to me specifically.
Some people might not like what we have to say, but the message still must be delivered by someone. 💌🕊️ And God chooses what the world might consider to be weak and insignificant, in order to shame the wise and the learned.

Lately I have been led to listen to a few videos by Dr. Jamie Morgan. She has been given some really good teachings on spiritual warfare. And she also talks about the spiritual gifts too. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel.
